Our Nursery

Baby Unit (6 weeks to 2 years)

We ask that you send your child in each day with a bag containing a change of clothes. In summer we ask that your child has a sun hat and sun cream. In winter a warm coat, hat and gloves. Our children go outside twice a day, every day and it is therefore vital that they are sent in with the appropriate things.

Nappies - You can either send nappies in daily or a pack which staff will monitor and tell you when they are running low. We provide baby wipes and cream but if you would prefer us to use your own, please advise staff.

Bottles - If your child has bottles throughout the day, please send in your sterilised bottles.  We shall make up the bottle as and when required so parents can either send in powder daily or a tub which again, staff will monitor and advise you when running low.

Sleep - Staff will talk through your child's routine with you and ensure that we follow the routine that you require.  We have a separate cot room where children can sleep peacefully in either a cot or a pushchair. We ask that if your child has a soother or comforter that these are brought in each day to ensure they feel like our setting is a home from home.

Meals - Our setting has a cook on-site who prepares meals every day. Our menu is attached. Our meals contain fresh meat and vegetables and we cater for children with any dietary requirements. Staff will talk to you about your child's meal requirements on entry.

Tweenie Room (2 to 3 years)

We ask that you send your child in each day with a bag containing a change of clothes. In summer we ask that your child has a sun hat and sun cream. In winter a warm coat, hat and gloves. Our children go outside twice a day, every day and it is therefore vital that they are sent in with the appropriate things.

Nappies - You can either send nappies in daily or a pack which staff will monitor and tell you when they are running low. We provide baby wipes and cream but if you would prefer us to use your own, please advise staff.

You may also wish to start your child potty training in this room. Staff are more than happy to work with you on this or to give you some tips for home. All we ask is that you send in plenty of changes of clothes and pants as we are very limited to what we have at nursery.

Sleep - If your child still has a sleep in the day then our Tweenie Room has low beds and pushchairs available. If your child has a soother or comforter we ask that this is sent in each day so we can ensure your child feels at home. If you wish to limit your child's sleep then please advise staff and they can ensure they wake your child up after a limited time.

Some 2 year olds are also entitled to 15 hours free childcare. For more information on this please speak with a member of staff or log onto www.staffordshire.gov.uk for details of eligibility.

Pre-School (3 to 4 years)

We ask that you send your child in each day with a bag containing a change of clothes. In summer we ask that your child has a sun hat and sun cream. In winter a warm coat, hat and gloves.

In this room the children free-flow between the indoors and the outdoors for most of the morning and afternoon. It is vital therefore that they are sent in with the appropriate things as we cannot discriminate against any child having this opportunity.

This room promotes letters and sounds to the children in readiness for School. By the end of their time in this room it is hoped that children will start to recognise and sound letters of the alphabet.

Grant Information

It is when your child reaches 3 that they are entitled to claim up to 15 hours free childcare. This is claimed in the term after your child's third birthday and we can do all this for you. You simply need to sign a form consenting to us claiming the funding, provide us with your child's birth certificate and confirm your child's ethnic group. The funding is claimed for 38 weeks of a year. If your child attends more than 15 hours then the fees are calculated accordingly or parents can simply send their child into nursery for 3 hours a day. If you require more information on how this works then please speak to a member of staff within the room or the Manager Jo.

After School/Holiday Club

Our nursery has a fully insured minibus and collects from Outwoods School, Shobnall School and Belvedere School. We also have a walking bus from St Modwens School.

Children come from school and are given a snack which differs each day from sandwiches, bagels and wraps to soup and cheese on toast. They are also given fruit and crisps and unlimited juice.

Children are free to choose what activities they want whether it be playing board games, craft activities or simply go outside to play football etc.

We also have computers and a Wii but we do try to limit the use of such and encourage the children to participate in other activities.

During non-term time we run a holiday club. Children regularly go to the park to play games such as football and rounders. Planning is devised for each holiday and displayed for parents to see. We also go on trips from time to time on the nursery minibus.

Our After School/Holiday club has a large outdoor area with climbing apparatus, swings and slides but large enough to play football on.

We ask that children are sent in with appropriate footwear, coats, sun cream etc for the time of year.
